‘Has potential but is easily distracted’
This was drilled into me with every single report card I recieved from school. I didn’t know what it meant at the time. I suspect it’s one of those throwaway lines teachers cut and paste into student feedback. I was forever drawing in class, but I wasn’t distracted. I was actually quite focused when I was drawing. It helped me visualise the topic instead of thinking about what I was supposed to be looking at, or how I should behave. I was always drawing – drawing in class, making comics with my brothers and friends outside of class, defacing the front page of the newspaper at home. Thankfully, my parent encouraged me in all this.
