Flight Blog
A curated online library
Hello everyone!
We have some exciting news to share. We’ve now published four full editions of Flight, and reflecting on this year that is past, have decided to make some changes to our publication.
As a kids’ bookseller, we’re committed to children’s literature and to providing access points for young people to engage with writers and artists. Our intention with Flight was to provide a space for this, however we have noticed that the interest in a print publication is for a curated magazine of beautiful illustrations and techniques, accompanied by reflections on how people do things and why they do them. In keeping with this, we’d like to turn our print focus to expand the features that align with this demand; illustration, curated interviews, writing, and art. We feel this content is more intuitive given our audience of illustrators, writers, student artists, parents, and teachers.
This means that we’ll be moving our content curated for kids, including our activities, art tutorials, and projects, away from the magazine and into some new spaces. We’ll be creating a very exciting new venture: Illustrator Clubs (some for kids and some for adults!), as well as continuing to offer activities in a downloadable format, and creating an online presence too. This means we can engage kids in a way that evolves with their interests and the way they enjoy engaging with art and illustration.
This does mean that we’ll be making some changes to the format of Flight; we’re looking to make it larger so you can see all those beautiful illustrations at full size, with gorgeous art quality paper, and more pages too.
We can’t wait to share more about our new adventures – watch this space!
